Owning a home here has been a dream of mine for over forty years. I’ve visited Edisto countless times, always saving and hoping for the day I could call a piece of this paradise my own. That dream finally came true in December 2022, and I’m thrilled to share it with you.
While locals might say the island has changed over the years, Edisto still holds onto the quiet, small-town charm I fell in love with decades ago. There are no traffic lights, no high-rises, no chain restaurants — just one grocery store, friendly faces, dog-friendly beaches, and an abundance of wildlife and natural beauty to explore. This home was once known as The Big Honey-Do, but on January 1, 2023, I christened it “Edisto License to Chill”, inspired by one of Jimmy Buffett’s feel-good songs. My goal? To create a space where guests and families can relax, unplug, and soak in the island vibes.
So… Fins Up as you cross the Causeway and catch that first whiff of salt air and pluff mud. Welcome to Edisto — and enjoy your stay!
Yes! We love hosting dogs, and Edisto Beach is famously pet-friendly.
We’re just a short walk to sandy, dog-friendly beaches.
Check-in is at 4:00 PM, and check-out is at 10:00 AM. Early check-in may be available upon request.

First thing walking in this house, it’s beautiful. My husband, 27 yr. old daughter, and I (with our 2 dogs) had a very relaxing time. We’ve been coming to Edisto for 25 years, and this house had all we needed. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay. Will stay again.
We love this house! The design is great. The bay window, the back porch, the roomy patio area under the house with the porch swings, the fenced-in backyard covered in grass and the décor inside. We’ve spent enjoyable mornings on the back porch feeding and watching the birds (and discouraging squirrels!) Using the binoculars to watch the bigger birds in flight over the marshy area. It’s such a short walk to the beach.
My son and daughter-in-law, my husband, 2 dogs (one is a Yorkie), and I would love to rent this house again. We love Edisto. It is so quiet. No major commercialization. We took the ferry to Charleston for a day trip. We visited the market at Rays Creek on Wednesday and purchased boiled peanuts from the Hippie Chick truck. Took walks on the beach in the evenings. Botany Bay is also a favorite but it was closed for hunting. Ate ice cream and visited the shops. Enjoyed Tortugas, the Waterfront and Pressley’s. Hope to visit again!

Returning for our second year and this trip was just as amazing! We were lucky enough to meet Jan when we checked in and got to share ice cream with our kiddos! She truly goes above and beyond to make our trip amazing! We had the best time and cannot wait for another trip — hopefully this fall!

We have been renting on the Island for 35 years and this was definitely the BEST experience we have had. You are so very kind and considerate. This home is absolutely gorgeous — we love the design. The outside fenced area is so perfect for the fur babies and the grandkids had so much fun with all the games, painting rocks, beach walks, ice cream, golf cart rides, shopping, etc.
You made us feel so welcome — like family! We cannot wait to visit again next summer!
